Robotaki‘s remix of Kavinsky’s ‘Nightcall‘ has been included on the special edition release of the film Drive.

Apparat Organ Quartet is probably the only organ quartet in the world with five members. They are without a doubt the only one openly admitting to be influenced by both Kraftwerk and Mötorhead. In 2011, their second album Pólyfónía received critical acclaim across Europe, and on the heels of its success Apparat Organ Quartet will now release an EP of carefully selected remixes of tracks from the album. On the 27th February nine remixes from acclaimed collaborators will hit the streets presenting interpretations of the Icelandic group’s most successful release so far, including works by Dreamtrak, Robotaki, Bloodgroup, FM Belfast and Reptilicus.

First up is Foals and Chicks On Speed producer and avid remixer Dreamtrak, who already premiered his Pet Shop Boys-influenced remix of “Konami” over at Drowned in Sound. After that comes soon-to-be-released producer Robotaki, who recently held the #2 spot on Hype Machine upon claiming first prize in a DJ Shadow remix contest. Robotaki takes his experience from bootleg remixing Daft Punk and Phoenix and turns his eyes towards “123 Forever”.

Fellow Icelanders FM Belfast remixes “Konami” and if one has experienced a live concert with the group, the kinship with Apparat Organ Quartet presents itself in obvious ways. Also contributing is the Danish elitist pop rockers Beta Satan, who took a break from family and student activities to tear up and put back together Cargo Frakt ending up with their “Cargo Frakt (Beta Satan Shred to Pieces cover)”. A track that will make you want to revisit their album “Girls”.

Finally, Icelandic electro pop artists Bloodgroup, Danish producer Thomas Troelsen and none other than italo disco connoisseur Flemming Dalum give their versions of “Konami”. Closing out the remix album is Frederik Schikowski interpreting ”Söngur Geimunglingsins” and Reptilicus with “Síríus Alfa”.
